Monday 25th April - Where is the sun?
The term is well on the way and its great to see a number of new juniors joining Little Golfers. Our Tee Off Thursdays programme is going well in local schools and a huge number of children are having a go at golf. So far this year Little Golfers to date has taught 1240 children. We are still waiting for the warm weather to kick in, but we are all really enjoying the golf whatever the weather. First lesson FREE can happen at any point, so please get in touch if you would like your child to get involved in our junior golf coaching programme.
Monday 11th April - Summer Term starts
Hope everyone had a good Easter break and now we go back to our normal routines. Golf lessons start this week and with some better weather we hope to get our juniors out on the course a lot more. Our junior competitions continue and now every junior has a handicap to compete over a 9 hole stableford or medal competition. If you want to get your child involved then please get in touch as we offer a first lesson FREE. Most school clubs start next week and our Tee Off Thursdays really start as we have 7 schools in the diary for this term. Loads of children will get a chance to play some golf with Little Golfers over the next few months. What a perfect start to the term with Danny Willett winning the Masters, congratulations to him and lets hope having an English winner boosts the interest in golf for young people.
Wednesday 30th March - Easter Cup
Yesterday saw our 3rd competition and first Little Golfers major of the year. 9 junior golfers battled the wet and windy conditions and play very well, considering the ball was going nowhere across the wet ground and blown all over the place by the wind. Arthur made it 2 wins from 2 starts with an impressive 6 over par, 33. This now sees Little Golfers getting handicaps and the competitions will move from a flag format onto a stableford format, making it a lot fairer and every junior has an equal chance of winning now. Handicaps and results from the Easter Cup can be made on our competition page.
Thursday 24th March - Spring Term School Competition
Wednesday 23rd March saw the first Little Golfers school competition to take place at Sandown Park Golf Centre, 36 children from 8 schools took part. Children from Kew College, Banstead Infant School, St Ann's Heath, Our Lady of the Rosary, Buckland, South Farnham and Manor Junior put the skills their learnt at their school clubs into practice around the pitch and putt course. With 50 shots to get as far round the golf course as possible, an impressive Jack from Banstead Infant school, finished the whole course in 44 shots to take the trophies back to his school. It was a great event and another one will take place during the summer term. Thanks to all the children who took part and their parents for supporting and helping.
Monday 21st March
Last Saturday saw 16 juniors battle out on a chilly afternoon and played really well. Loads of PB's and both the over 7s and under 7s were won with a great score of 35. As we head towards Easter, I want to wish everyone a great break and mention we have Easter golf camps running, during the school holidays. Remember we offer a first junior lesson FREE and have junior golf lesson running 7 days a week.
Friday 18th March
So Little Golfers enters another busy weekend with our second Little Golfers junior competition on the course on Saturday afternoon. We have a number of new juniors enjoying their FREE month of coaching and this week is our Easter egg putting challenge, each group will try and putt closest to the egg to win the chocolate. This Wednesday will also see a first for Little Golfers with our first school competition based at the golf course. We have 36 juniors from 8 different schools competing over our pitch and putt course, should be a great event.
